START LEARNING AT KEETHANOW SCHOOLS
Our nursery program takes a unique approach to environment-based learning. Our hands-on approach provides opportunity to develop physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills for both self-directed and teacher directed activities. The program is designed to teach students a love for learning while balancing the need for social collaboration and independence.
Our kindergarten students learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and study skills that will be used throughout life and school. Students engage in learning that is nurturing and supportive rather than competitive. Your child will learn through engaging and fun activities like music and art, transforming playtime to instill significant cognitive abilities, motor abilities, sight words, letter-sound recognition, and reading comprehension. School is accessible in class, or at home (virtually).
Students in division 1 will begin to expand their learning through play by focussing on core concepts like reading, writing, numeracy, science, and social science. Our goal is that students will develop an understanding of literacies, interdependence, social responsibility, cultural identity, and critical thinking. School is accessible in class, or at home (virtually).
Through a shared goal of creating lifelong learners, students in division 2 engage in holistic learning that begins to shape a larger vision on school and life. We prioritize school content that meets Saskatchewan curriculum outcomes, while blending centered and culturally-relevant education. Our division 2 students are encouraged to engage meaningfully with literacy and numeracy through comprehension, response, composition, and creation. School is accessible in class, or at home (virtually).
Students in division 3 are in a transition stage to high school. Classroom content begins to place more emphasis on constructing knowledge in cross-curricular competencies – while also focussing on specific areas of numeracy and literacy. Students will develop mathematical understandings of spacial sense, numeracy, reasoning and literacy concepts such as comprehension, reflection, assessment, and creation. School is accessible in class, or at home (virtually).
Our approach to division 4 is student-centered. Aligning with subject-specific curriculum outcomes teachers serve as guides and moderators to understand course objectives through experience and problem-posing education. Students are provided opportunities to learn in-class or virtually through both synchronous and asynchronous classes. For a full list of course offerings and staff, see our class schedule linked below.
